Phoenix Union JROTC Programs successfully completed the 2018-2019 JROTC Program Accreditation Inspection, February 25-28. All PUHSD JROTC Programs received 90% or above, with Alhambra, Cesar Chavez, Carl Hayden, South Mountain, Trevor Browne, North, Maryvale andBetty Fairfax JROTC Programs receiving the highest Honor Unit with Distinction rating, of over 95%. Trevor Browne scored a 96%! Only 10 % of the Army JROTC units in the country earn Honor Unit with Distinction, and it is 80% of the JROTC programs. PUHSD has 1730 student cadets at 10 school programs.
This all-day accreditation inspection, held every three years, is student-based with all the briefings, inspections, interviews and reviews student-led. The U.S. Army representatives inspected the following areas: battalion administrative procedures, cadet attendance and participation, cadet curriculum knowledge, student electronic portfolios, use of local media, logistical procedures, instructor planning/portfolios, training management and physical security. Additionally, cadet battalion staff presented two formal staff briefings and JROTC classes received a formal uniform inspection and had to perform a prearranged platoon drill marching sequence.
This inspection is part of the national U.S. Army JROTC AdvancEd certification.
