The North High Cyborg Mustangs participated in the FIRST Robotics Competition AZ West Regional hosted by Grand Canyon University this past weekend. The Cyborg Mustangs took home the Judges’ Award for “exemplifying FIRST (For inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) values. The team has helped bring awareness to the issue of mental health among young people. This is the second year in a row that the Cyborg Mustangs have received the Judges’ Award. The team is coached by English teacher Jessica Galaz. Seems an unlikely subject area for science and technology, but she participated in robotics at her high school. “This team and the FIRST program are very important to me,” she said.
