North Celebrates Black History Month

North High celebrated Black History Month from start to finish. The Black Student Union, under the guidance of math teacher Joseph Prevost,  provided daily announcements about African-American history; African-American artifacts were on display in the school’s library; BSU Club members attended the annual African-American Legislative and Leadership Conference, February 8;  a BHM Spirit Week had students wearing attire based on different daily themes during the week; there was an assembly with performances by the school’s choir and dance group, a gospel group, poetry readings and a keynote speaker, and a Career Panel in which African-American professionals from the Phoenix area spoke with students about college and career preparedness, and Black History Month.
