DECA Qualifies to Compete at Nationals
Over the weekend, students from our DECA Chapter competed against over 3,000 other DECA students from all over the state in the Arizona DECA State Career and Development Conference held at the Arizona Grand Resort.
We are pleased to announce that five of our competitors have qualified to compete at the DECA International Career and Development Conference in Orlando, Florida April 26-May 1 , 2019.
Brooklyn Primus and Arlon Gutierrez won 3rdplace in the Innovation Plan event. The Innovation Plan Event is very similar to Shark Tank. It involves the idea generation and opportunity recognition needed to take advantage of market opportunities to introduce a new business, product or service. They came up with a really good product idea called “Fem Vend”, wrote a 10 page paper on it, and created a 15 minute presentation trying to convince real investors from the Phoenix area to invest in their product idea.
Adrian Hernandez, Rodolpho Reyes Felix, and David Munoz competed in the Stock Market Game. Starting in September they had to develop and manage a $10,000 investment portfolio. They managed all aspects of the portfolio including stock selection, buying, and selling. The goal of the competition was to increase the value of the beginning portfolio by as much as possible, while competing against over 3,000 other teams from all over the west coast. Only the top 25 teams could qualify for nationals and they were ranked 19 out of the 3000 teams that competed. They were also one of the only two teams that qualified from Arizona.
If you happen to have any of these students in class, please congratulate them and wish them luck at nationals
