Camelback High School first opened its doors in 1954. CBHS adopted the Spartan as the mascot and orange and blue as its colors. Spartans young and old believe firmly in the motto, "Once a Spartan, Always a Spartan."Like most organizations that have been around for over a half century, CBHS has experienced significant change over the years. From the mid-1950's through the mid-1980's, Camelback served a population of primarily middle class and upper-middle class students from the Biltmore area. As a result of desegregation, the demographics of CBHS slowly began to change and morph into the wonderfully diverse school that it is today! We are extremely proud of our diversity, especially the way in which our Spartans accept the many cultural and personal differences that exist among the student body.CBHS currently serves about 2,000 students. Our students speak over 25 languages and have lived on 5 of the 7 continents. We have 120 certified faculty and nearly 100 classified staff who are fully dedicated to the well-being of every individual student on campus.
