Carl Hayden JROTC Travels to El Paso for Competition

The Carl Hayden JROTC took 30 cadets to El Paso, Texas, March 23-24, to compete in Skills Meets that included Physical Fitness, Rifle, Color Guard( Male & Female), Unarmed Drill, Armed Drill.  The Falcons took home the University of Texas Commanders Cup, the first time a Phoenix school has won the overall scoring award, beating 16 other schools.  The rifle team took first place, and David Nieto was the top shooter with a 2nd and 3rd place individual medals.  Other results included the boys color guard-first place;  girls color guard-first place, The armed drill team - second overall;  PT Team overall- 4th place, Unarmed Team overall- 6th place with a overall place-1st place(Commanders Cup).  The teams compete at the State Drill Competition at Alhambra High School, April 14 and the Hayden Color Guards go to Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida in May to compete for the National Championship in Color Guard.
