The Algebra 1-2 Team of Patricia Chittenden, Michael Epstein, Greg Jarvis, Katherine Martinez, and Josh Wray were named the Outstanding Professional Learning Community (PLC) team for the first semester.   This Team collaborated to create the highest A-C student grade attainment rate and Criterion Reference Test (CRT, a District-wide final exam) passing rate in Fairfax Algebra 1-2 course history.

“Their combined work created unprecedented student achievement growth in the math department and their students finished among the top two percent in CRT percentage passing rates in Algebra for the entire district,” Principal Zack Muñoz said.

“Special PLC recognition goes out to Katherine Martinez for her outstanding work with her students in Pre-Calculus.  92% of her students passed the first semester CRT exam with a 70% or better, which is the highest passing percentage in all of PUHSD.”
