Choir and band students from around the valley competed for placement into the All-Region Choir, Band, or Orchestra,  January 28, and Central had seven students selected.  The auditions include over 30 schools and 1,000 students.   William Ramsey,  Mizraim Osuna,  Tony Contreras   and Anahis Aguilera made All-Region Choir.   Ivan Martinez  Morales – baritone Sax and Julian Salazar – tenor Sax made All-Region Band, and Ninabah Winton-piccolo made All-Region Orchestra.   The All-Region Festival and Concert in which these students will perform will be   at Central, Saturday, February 18 at 3 p.m. and costs $5.

“This is a rigorous and difficult audition that requires students to perform a prepared solo (or etudes) as well as perform a piece of music without ever having seen it before,” Troy Meeker, Choir Director said.    “It often takes years of diligent practice and dedication to your craft to reach a level at which a student is selected for this ensemble.”

Compared to past years, our Band is continuing an upward trend placing one, two and now three students during the past three years. Choir, for the fourth year in a row, has placed more students in an All-Region Choir than any other school in Phoenix Union.
