The Betty H. Fairfax Vocal Ensemble was invited to perform in a concert hosted by Helios, a local professional modern Renaissance vocal ensemble, September 23 at the Central United Methodist Church. The students performed two secular madrigals that fit the theme "A Book of Beasts". This is the first time that Helios, now in its third season, has invited a high school choir to perform in one of their concerts.  During the Medieval and Renaissance eras, the animal kingdom was a source of amazement and entertainment in literature, art and music from cats and dogs to dragons and griffins.
