Maryvale: Jasson Adame and Mariela Medina are Displaying Artwork at the Shemer Art Center

Maryvale have two student artists, Jasson Adame and Mariela Medina, displaying artwork at the Shemer Art Center New Horizons High School Student Art Exhibition.    Adame won a Shemer Family Award and cash at the awards ceremony, January 21.    Each school that participated was able to submit two pieces of art.  Over 80 student art pieces are on display through February 2.   Adame’s teacher is Gabriel Ramirez and Medina’s art teacher is Doniphan Sanchez.


The Panther Wrestling team finished fifth in the 23-team Brad Jones Pack Invitational at Centennial High School.   The tournament is named after former Centennial wrestler and Peoria Police officer who was killed in the line of duty.  Senior Antonio Perez received the Brad Jones Sportsmanship Award from the Jones family, which each year chooses one wrestler in the tournament to receive the honor. 

Four Maryvale wrestlers placed: Omar Alvarado, 2nd at 220 pounds, Francisco Moreno, 4th at 182, Christian Alvarado, 5th at 160 and Tony Cobian, 6th at 170  pounds.
