The Dragon Robotics team competed at NAU earlier this month, finishing 26th out of 48 teams in a regional FIRST Robotics event that had teams from as far away as Turkey, Mexico and Canada.   The Dragons won the Imagery Award, celebrating attractiveness in engineering and outstanding visual aesthetic integration of machine and team appearance.  They also won the Safety Pit of the Day award.

The Chairman’s team of Sorvino Nguyen (senior), Alex Haywood (frosh), Jazmin Andrade (frosh) presented how the team empowered students, provided STEM outreach, and broke down cultural barriers in our community.  Their sincerity made the judges cry, according to teacher/coach Nadia Smith.  The drive team was made up of Edmund Dong, Edwin Lozano, Cesar Parra and Laura Lozano and driver coach and Bioscience alumnus Jonah Lerner.

The Dragon Robots have one more competition , April 5-8 at Grand Canyon University.
