Carl Hayden Community High School, Carl Hayden JROTC and the Military Order of The World Wars conducted the 52nd annual Massing of the Colors and Service of Remembrance, September 11. The ceremony serves as a reminder that patriotism begins with human allegiance as described by Norman Cousins, Political Journalist, – (1915-1990). “Sometimes we feel as though we, as a nation, are no longer interested in the sentiment of sacrifice and dedication.”

Over 23 organizations participated in this year, including the 108th Army Band, Arizona Army National Guard, Phoenix Union JROTC programs, local Girl and Boy Scout Chapters, Association of Untied States Army, American Legion, Gold Star Wives, Military Officers Association, Vietnam Veterans of America, the Women Army Corps Veterans Association, Arizona Youth Leadership Conference and religious leaders from the Sun City Jewish Congregation, the VA Hospital and the Covenant Presbyterian Church.
