South Mountain took home two School of the Year awards from the Opening of Schools Convocation, August 2 at the Celebrity Theatre- one for Athletics and one for Marketing.

The Jaguars won two team state championships in one month.   In February, the Boys Soccer Team won the first AIA soccer title ever for a Phoenix Union team…and two weeks later, the Girls Basketball team upset the top-ranked team to claim the championship, its second girls’ basketball title in eight years.     If you count the Girls Track and Field title in the Spring of 2015, the Jaguars captured three state championships in less than a year…and now have 31 Team State Championships in South Mountain’s illustrious history.

South Mountain, as the Marketing School of the Year, also generated the most good news, as determined by the District’s Communications Department.  The school had a lot to brag about in 2015-16- Sports State Championships, State finalist Mock Trial team, National Moot Court finalists, The City of Phoenix Outstanding Young Woman of the Year, an Emmy-winning television program and Rodel Exemplary Principal Kate McDonald.
