South Mountain High School is experiencing record freshman enrollment this year. The school welcomed 548 new Jaguars on the first day of school, August 8, with many more continuing to enroll. This was an increase of over 180 students from a year ago. “Students, parents and staff are thrilled about the brand new Freshman Houses beginning this year, and the upcoming "Academies at South Mountain,” said Assistant Principal Nick Oviedo. South Mountain High School is introducing four schools-within-a-school focusing on Sciences & Technology, Public & Social Services, Technical Engineering and Arts & Design, while incorporating its five magnet programs and adding more Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses.
