Nine Maryvale students attended the first ever TEDxYouth@Glendale on April 18 at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. TEDx Youth expands the purpose of "ideas worth sharing" by focusing on the issues relevant in inspiring and encouraging the youth of our specific community. This year's theme was #WorldInMind and incorporated 15 speakers, cultural workshops, authors, games and free books. The students left inspired, motivated and empowered to start a movement that began with their self-awareness and realizing their limitless potential.
English teachers Moon Johnson and Carrie Deahl accompanied the group and shared these student reflections:

“I was exposed to a variety of ideas that influenced my perspective on the world.”
“It was inspiring and gave us courage to create change.”
“I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was very eye-opening. You have to go to one of these events to experience this life changing opportunity.”
“No matter how hard something is, there is always a second half.”
“Going to the Tedx talk opened my eyes and I leaned about important issues that made me want to have a better “2nd half” and want to help my community.”
