PUHSD Art Show On Exhibit During April

The Phoenix Union Student Art Show was on exhibit during April at the Phoenix Art Museum in the Wolfswinkel Education Center. A reception and awards ceremony was held April 22 Artists from 12 schools exhibiting 94 pieces makes this the biggest PUHSD Art Show ever. Each art teacher submitted two pieces. The winners by category were Drawing: Emmanuel Villa, Trevor Browne; Painting: Ariel Mercado, Cesar Chavez; Mixed Media: Alhambra group project; Digital: Itzel Rivas, Trevor Browne; Traditional: Leilani Matura, North. First place won $100, second place, $50 and 3rd Place: $20. Margoth Lopez of Alhambra aslo was the Museum Choice Award winner, selected by museum employees. She receives four passes for free museum admission. Prizes were made possible by donations from Cyndi Lynott, Bill and Nancy Haug, and art teachers Julie Peters, Dawn Reeths-Knobbe, Penny Hansen and Judy Mariahazy.
