The Arizona Diamondbacks made a surprise visit to Maryvale High School to kick off their “Chase Your Dreams” program, April 3, delivering equipment bags full of bats, balls, catchers gear, gloves, and other field maintenance items prior to the Maryvale-Carl Hayden baseball game. Chase Bank and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation have made a $300,000 commitment to revitalize struggling high school baseball and softball programs in Arizona. That commitment can include financial support, equipment and supplies, facility improvements, coaches training, athlete training and field maintenance training. Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall, former D-Back star Luis Gonzalez and Chase Bank’s Mike Pickerd were on hand for the ceremony, along with Superintendent Kent Scribner.

“We want kids playing baseball, and we want them playing on a level playing field. Not every kids has the same opportunity to play this great game,“ Hall said. “Enjoy the equipment, respect the game, and it will be good to you.”

“Being able to play baseball is an incredible opportunity. Don’t take it for granted. Continue to play as long as you can, and hopefully some of you will play in college and beyond, Gonzalez said.
