Multi-Media Teacher Heather Jancoski Nominated for First Annual Connet2STEM Awards

Multi-media teacher Heather Jancoski has been nominated for the first annual Connet2STEM Awards, presented by Cox Communications and the University of Arizona. She is one of two finalists for the Creative Media award. A public on line vote at will determine the winner.

Jancoski works with advanced broadcast journalism students to produce a weekly TV show called Jaguar News. Jaguar News uses technology to share with the staff, faculty, and student population what is happening in their community. She has committed her students to the use of technology to communicate via social media with statistical analysis of these communications. In addition her students were able to work with "PBS News Hour" in a collaboration on school safety. These partnerships gave the students insight into a career in multimedia broadcast journalism.

Award winners will receive a $1000 charitable donation to the STEM organization or program of choice and will be hosted in a Skybox Party Suite at a Diamondbacks game. They will be featured in a 3- second commercial produced by Cox Communications, and in a video describing their STEM efforts on, and receive a trophy.
