Betty Fairfax's Project Team at Scottsdale Community College's Math & Science Field Day came in 3rd place out of 16 schools across the Valley, January 15. The project required teams to use 12 feet of pipe insulation and wooden dowels to construct a rollercoaster for a steel ball bearing that had to stop at the ending edge of the track. The roller coaster was required to have a starting height of 0.5 meters, contain a loop and a hill at least 12 centimeters tall. The team was made up of two seniors in the IB Diploma Program: Jessica Avila and Liam Clauss, and the lead programmer from our robotics club, junior Aaron Myers.
