Forgive science teacher Fredi Lajvardi if he seems a bit pre-occupied. He has been helping promote the motion picture, Spare Parts, which is about his robotics team, and their incredible upset win over MIT and several other universities at an underwater robot competition. After an Arizona premiere in Tempe, January 6, he was in Los Angeles, that same week for another premeire. On January 14, he was on National Public Radio’s “Diane Rehm Show,” with former team members Lorenzo Santillan and Oscar Vasquez and Joshua Davis, the author of the original Wired Magazine article, “La Vida Robot,” and now a book, called Spare Parts. The movie opened January 16 at select theatres nationwide.
