Three Cesar Chavez Teams Compete in the First Tech Challenge

Three Cesar Chavez teams are competing in the First Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics competition. Sponsored by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) teams are vying to make the state championships in Flagstaff, February. The competition involves smaller 18 by 18-inch robots. One Chavez team was part of the winning alliance, and earned a spot in the state tournament, November 22, and two other teams earned a spot at state, December 6. Chavez will host a 24-team event, January 24. The Chavez teams, under the direction of science teacher Chelle Myrann, have earned other awards in their previous events. Team 322 was awarded the "Connect Award" for bringing the experience of FIRST Robotics to their community, and the “Innovate Award” for its unique approach to its robot design. Team 5564 won the "Motivate Award" as all aspects of their team would motivate other teams in the right direction.
