Phoenix Union Board Members Amy Kobeta and Ricardo Gallego attended their last Governing Board meeting as members, December 4, and were given fond farewells by other board members and Superintendent Kent Scribner, who presented the two with commemorative plaques. Kobeta, who represented Ward 3 in the northeast portion of the District, served two terms over eight years, including President of the Board in 2009 and 2010. Gallego served on the Board for one term, 2010-2014, representing Ward 2, the southeast region of the District. At the same time, new and returning board members were sworn in by Mayor Greg Stanton. New board members Stephanie Parra will replace Kobeta, and Stanford Prescott will take over for Gallego in January. Linda Abril, Laura Pastor and Randy Schiller also were sworn in for the next four-year terms.
