With the help of the Falcon Robotics team appearing at the Division I State Championship Football Game, November 29, the AIA announced that they will begin sanctioning robotics events, as one of its 32 sports and activities. There will be two Arizona FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics events in March, at Hamilton High School and Grand Canyon University. While those competitions determine which schools go to the Internationals in April, the AIA will hold a state championship in Prescott, May 23. Arizona joins Minnesota as the only states that have made robotics a sanctioned activity.
