Posted by Community Relations on 12/10/2014

The largest-ever Phoenix Union class of National Board Certified Teachers was announced December 2. Ten teachers earned their Certification, and another was re-certified. The certification, considered the teaching profession’s highest honor, is presented by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards to teachers who demonstrate, through a performance assessment, that they meet the high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. The most certifications in one year previously was seven, each of the last two years. Only Scottsdale had more teachers certified than PUHSD this year. There are now 43 current National Board Certified teachers in the District, including five who joined PUHSD this year, having earned certification in another district.
