The AIA recognized the Cal Hayden Falcon Robotics team for bringing attention to Arizona for their robotics accomplishments at halftime of the Division I Football Championship game, November 28 at the University of Phoenix Stadium. In fact, the game ball and coin for the coin toss was delivered by a Falcon robot. At halftime, the trailer for both the documentary, Underwater Dreams, and the motion picture, Spare Parts was shown. The Falcons’ appearance helped to announce the first AIA-sanctioned robotics event that will be held in Prescott.
Coach Fredi Lajvardi and the four Hayden students who brought worldwide attention by beating MIT 10 years ago were introduced, as well as the current team for continuing the tradition of success.
