Special Education teacher Sandra Jenkins has won a $5000 grant to help fund a vocational program for students with special needs. The grant was part of the Diamondbacks’ $150,000 School Challenge, presented by the University of Phoenix. The program would enable students the opportunity to perform paid and unpaid internships from January to May, 2015. These internships will focus on the transition from school to work.
In addition to the funding, the D-backs are inviting the school to be honored prior to a 2015 Arizona Diamondbacks game at Chase Field with 1,000 complimentary tickets for students, teachers, families and supporters.
