South Mountain’s Multimedia Magnet Students Were Arizona Interscholastic Press Association Broadcast Award Winners

South Mountain’s multimedia magnet students were Arizona Interscholastic Press Association Broadcast Award winners, announced in October. The student work was entered this past summer. First place winners were current students Danielle Quihuis, Terraney Hightower and Ananda Salameh. Quihuis took first place for a personality profile on South alum and former newscaster Frank Camacho, and a second-place for a feature on teacher couples. Hightower won first place for a prom dress giveaway feature. Salameh did a news story on lunch shortages. Other winners were last year’s seniors Xavyer Ziegler, a first, two seconds and an honorable mention; Jose Contreras, a 2nd place; Kimberly Aguilar, 2nd place; Saul Hernandez, 2nd place, and Kevin Ixtabalan, honorable mention. The Jaguar News Staff also earned an honorable mention for a promo about Phoenix Union. Heather Jancoski is the magnet teacher and oversees Jaguar News Broadcasts, and the Southerner Yearbook.
