Thirteen teachers participated in the school’s National Board Certification pre-candidacy class this fall. This is the third such cohort in the past three years, hoping to earn National Board Certification, considered the teaching profession’s highest honor. It is presented by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards to teachers who demonstrate, through a performance assessment, that they meet the high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. Also, six teachers who completed their NBCT program and submitted their work last year will know in late November if they will certify, according to Principal Claudio Coria, who had three teachers earn Certification last year.

“Our teachers’ level of professionalism and focus on learning has risen sharply because of this opportunity,” he said.
