District Schools Taking Part in the Arizona College Application Campaign

Phoenix Union’s mission is to prepare every student for success in college, career and life. The first part of that is applying for college. Ten District schools are taking part in the Arizona College Application Campaign this month with a goal to have every high school senior complete at least one college application. Nearly 93 percent of high school students say they plan to go to college, yet, just over one quarter of Arizonans over the age of 25 have obtained a bachelor’s degree.  The campaign brings trained volunteers and community members together to provide assistance and create enthusiasm during the application process. Host schools help students complete preparatory steps in the application process, including selecting a college, examining admission criter and gathering necessary information. Schools set aside time and space during the school day with computer and internet access to complete applications. The next step is researching and applying for financial aid and scholarships. Parents and students will take part in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in January.
