Falcon Robotics continued to receive accolades. Falcon Robotics Alumni featured in the film Underwater Dreams-Luis Aranda, Maria Castro and Dulce Matuz received the Latinos De Hoy Award at a red-carpet event hosted by the Los Angeles Times, October 11.  The documentary touched on topics such as the DREAM Act, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and the legacy the team has left for students at Carl Hayden.

“I’m humbled to receive this award on behalf of the robotics team.  I really hope that other schools implement STEM programs for students like me who otherwise would not have been exposed to science, technology, engineering and math,” Aranda said.

“The Carl Hayden Falcon Robotics team not only develops engineers, but it also develops leaders who are ready to solve the world’s problems,” Castro said.

The biggest act of non-violent civil disobedience of our generation is getting an education.  The Robotics team raised the bar by teaching us that we are capable of changing the world and giving opportunities to the new generation of DREAMers,” Matuz said.
