Central High alumnus Samantha Steele is a host and reporter for ESPN’s College GameDay, Thursday Night Football and Super Tuesday college basketball. Keeping with the sports theme, she is also married to Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder.  Vogue Magazine featured them as one of the “coolest couples in the NFL,” and ET recently did a feature on them. Steele formerly worked as a reporter/host for the Longhorn Network and Fox Sports. She attended Liberty University, where she did sideline reporting for the school’s football and basketball games. She also interned for ABC Sports in New York for three years. At Central, she played volleyball, softball, tennis, track and basketball. When she is not working and travelling, she is involved in M.A.D. (Make A Difference) Ministries in Phoenix, her family’s non-profit organization for inner-city youth. Her brother, Barron Steele was the AIA Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2007, playing football, basketball and tennis for Central.
