The Government classes of teachers Michael Segovia and Brent Dugwyler conducted a mock trial with their students the week of September 29-October 3. The students played various roles in the mock trial in order to learn different aspects to the judicial process in this country. The students were also dressed for the week in professional attire. The case was the U.S. vs. Dominique Stephens in which a woman admits to shooting and killing her husband and is charged with first degree murder. She asserts that she acted in self-defense after suffering years of severe physical and emotional abuse. The mock trial was developed by the D.C. Street Law Clinic at Georgetown University Law Center.
