Betty Fairfax High School was
not only open for business, September 8 during the “Storm of the Century,” but
the school served as a Red Cross Evacuation Center for Laveen families impacted
by the flooding. The gym was converted
to cots, with restrooms and nearby showers available. The Red Cross also provided meals for the
families that were forced out of their homes.
