At Carl Hayden, it pays to be good. The school has incorporated Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), emphasizing systems of support that include proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments. On August 29, the school is holding its PBIS Carnival Beginning of the Year Celebration to reward positive behavior. Students have been receiving Falcon Cards from the staff, recognizing students who demonstrate the four positive behaviors adopted by the school—courteous, honest, helpful and successful. Those cards will be good for popcorn, snow cones, nachos or games, water activities or prizes, including a dunk tank with school staff members taking a dip as a way of saying thanks.
