PUHSD Students Competed at Future Educators Association Conference

Four members of PUHSD's Future Educators Association (FEA) competed with over 200 students from 35 different states at the National Championships and Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, April 10-12.  Jovanna Figueroa (Metro Tech) and Aylin Valdivia (Trevor Browne) placed third for their educational video submitted for "Inside Our Schools."  Their video showcased the effective use of the teaching strategy, modeling, used at Metro Tech High School.  ) Evelyn Gutierrez (North) was a top 10 finalist for "Storybook Creation." She wrote, illustrated, and presented her children's book to a panel of judges.  Delhi "Samantha" Melendrez (Trevor Browne) and Aylin Valdivia also participated in the "FEA Moment" and the "Impromptu Speaking" Competitions.  Melendrez gave an inspiring speech about the moment she knew she wanted to be a teacher and Valdivia prepared a two-to-three-minute speech about an educational issue within a 10-minute timeframe.   Maria Piazza Palotto, Metro’s Education Professions Instructor and Future Educators Advisor accompanied the students.
