South Student Receives High Honors in Teen Essay Contest

In other Law Magnet news, Teen Court students, as well as Ethics and Mediation students, competed in different essays contests. The Teen Court kids participated in the Teen Court Black Heritage Month Contest.  This year students had to write about Famous African American Lawyers and we included a topic on their “Dream to Make the World a Better Place” and “Ways They Would Stand Up and Stop Bullying in the School and Community.”  There were nine  winners from South Mountain.   Each of the winners received scholarship money ranging from $50 to $100.  



In the Ethics and Mediation class, the students participated in the Moral Courage Essay contest sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League.   Markaya Hill placed 1st in the 11/12th- grade category and will be honored for her essay, “The Army of Nine” on May 8.
