Franklin Police and Fire Students Complete BLM Training

Franklin Police & Fire High School students culminated six weeks of a Bureau of Land Management Wildland Fire course with a training day at the BLM training grounds, March 28.  Twenty-nine seniors received classroom and hands-on training this semester under the direction of BLM’s Dean Fernandez to earn certification as Basic Wildland Firefighters.  Later in the evening, Franklin hosted a graduation banquet for those students who earned their certification.  These high school students will be eligible to work this summer during what is expected to be a very busy fire season throughout the western United States.   Some former students have become fulltime BLM fire fighters after high school.
