The Chavez Percussion Ensemble participated in the ArizonaPercussive Arts Society Spring Festival,  March 29. Alberto Terrazas and James Dadia both received the highestrating of “Superior” for their marimba solos and Dadia was the only high schoolstudent picked to perform in the showcase concert at ASU that evening.

“That is a huge accomplishment for James as he has only been playing four- mallet marimba for a few months,” instructor Alison Brightwell-Balot  said.

The Chavez Percussion Ensemble was one of only two high school groups selected to perform in the showcase concert, as well. Lead by Terrazas, the ensemble received the highest rating of “Superior.”

The Chavez percussionists performed  at First Friday, April 4 at  the Arizona Latino Arts and Culture Center (147 E. Adams) and April 5 at Cesar Chavez Park (35th Ave. and Baseline) for the Cesar Chavez Day celebration.
