Alhambra Students Took Part in Tour for Diversity

Alhambra students took part in a Tour for Diversity in Medicine at Estrella Mountain Community College, February 4.  The tour is to help the medical field keep pace with the growing minority population by increasing the number of minorities entering the profession.  Alhambra’s Medical and health Studies magnet students heard the advice to start early, and that’s what the program offers.  Mentors through the Tour for Diversity in Medicine hope their stories will inspire other minorities to follow in their footsteps.  Today, fewer than 20 percent of medical school applicants are either Hispanic or Black, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges.  For more information on the Medical Arts magnet at Alhambra,  call 602 764-6106
