Fairfax Graduate Elected Secretary of Society of Women Engineers at U of A

Betty  Fairfax graduate, Maryam Abdul-Wahid, was elected Secretary of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at the University of Arizona.   She was honored at the Future Leaders Luncheon and received a $1000 scholarship.  Abdul-Wahid also serves as the vice-president of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), U of A.  She is studying Electrical Engineering at U of A and has a summer internship with UTC Aerospace in South Phoenix. Abdul-Wahid graduated in 2012 with a 4.5 grade point average.  She entered U of A as a sophomore because she was able to transfer over 40 credits from the South Mountain ACE (Achieving a College Education) program.   Because of her junior status, she was pursued by several companies at the Society of Women Engineers Annual Conference last month.
