Two Phoenix Union educators were named to an African American Advisory sub-committee on education, created to articulate the legislative priorities of the African American community in the Arizona House of Representatives.  The teachers are Maryvale’s Daisy Gates, special needs education specialist,  and Nedra Sheppard of Cesar Chavez, as student testing specialist.  After meeting with African American community leaders about the lack of representation in the House, Speaker of the House Andy Tobin decided to create the advisory committee, of which education is a sub-committee.
