South Mountain will welcome a new principal next year, as LaCresha Williams take the helm.  Williams has been a principal at Bostrom High School for the past two years.  She has been an administrator in the District since 2007, working at Camelback, North, and Trevor Browne. Williams began her career in 2003 at Phoenix Union as a government and economics teacher at Maryvale and taught for four years at Bostrom.  She earned both her Bachelor’s in Secondary Education and Master of Education Administration and Supervision at ASU.  She replaces Alvin Watson, who will be the principal at Bostrom, after eight years leading South.

“My goals are to collaboratively assess, diagnose and intervene in academic areas as well as social areas in order to maximize student learning in a safe and positive way,” Williams said.  “I would like to help all stakeholders of the South Mountain High School community create the environment most conducive to exemplification of excellence in college, career, and life which is necessary to compete in a global arena.  My focus is on supporting teachers thereby supporting students, which in turn supports the community, impacting our world directly.”
