South Mountain National Honors Students Complied over 2,500 Volunteer Hours

Sixty National Honor Society students compiled a total of 2519.20 hours volunteering in our community this year.  That averages to 105 days.  Among the activities, the students have participated in Pioneer Lunch, serving for senior who have lived in South Phoenix for 50-plus years; haunted Hay Ride, PF Chang’s Rock and Roll Marathon, Humane Society, making meal boxes at Save My Starving Children, and tutoring students at partner schools.    Social Studies teacher Mark Maskalenko is the NHS sponsor.
