Camelback Student Nominated for Outstanding Young Man of the Year

The City Council District 1 nominee for Phoenix’ Outstanding Young Man of the year is Jose Pardo.  The senior is vice president of the Poetry Club at Camelback and is also is active in the community through his work with Phonetic Spit, where he motivates fellow students to focus on written and oral literacy through poetry. Pardo volunteers weekly with St. Vincent de Paul doing intake interviews for families struggling with financial stability. He also is the coordinator for the tutoring program at Orangedale Middle School. In the future, Pardo plans on traveling the world to educate people on the values of different cultures and ethnicities.  He was honored with 15 other nominees at the Outstanding Young Man and Woman of the Year awards luncheon, April 18.
