With a classroom of proud students looking on, Vickie Frigo-Porter had a surprise visit from KNIX Radio personality Carolyn Coffey who awarded her the KNIX and Fulton Homes Teacher of the Week.  Frigo-Porter teaches medically fragile students who are mentally or physically handicapped.  She taught for 30 years, retired, and came back to work with “her kids” for another four school years, so far.  She was nominated by her staff, assistant John Thelen, nurse Liza Davis and nursing assistant Melissa Tamayo.  Besides the accolades, she won $300 and other prizes.

“I cannot express the amount of love and devotion she shows to our students.  Her heart is too big for words,” Thelen said in his nomination letter.
