Social studies teacher Katie Parod Hansen presented and unveiled one of the amendments at the "Bill of Rights” Monument dedication that took place December 15 at Wesley Bolin Plaza near the State Capitol.  The monument has ten granite monoliths, each inscribed with one of the first ten amendments to the constitution.   The December 15 date is the 221st anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights.  There was not a single permanent display of the Bill of Rights anywhere in America until 2008, when the organization, MyBillofRights.org dedicated a town square project in Montezuma, Iowa.  The organization, which is raising money for monuments throughout the United States says Arizona is the first to hold a major public celebration of the Bill of Rights.
