Phoenix Union, Phoenix College and host of community sponsors presented the first C3 Latino Conference, December 7 at Phoenix College.  C3 stands for College, Career and Commitment to the Future.   Almost 100 seniors attended seminars ranging from career exploration to substance awareness.  Maryvale teacher Selina Alonso encouraged students to look into education as a career, and give back to the community the same way Selina is doing now.  There were workshops on social work; law, nursing, law enforcement, architecture and construction, technology and apprenticeships.  Students also attended a college and resource fair.  Phoenix Union Superintendent Dr. Kent Scribner and Phoenix College President Dr. Anna Solley kicked off the conference with inspirational messages.

“It was the best conference for seniors that I have ever been to,” said Maryvale counselor Sean Kelleher who brought 12 seniors with him.  “The amount of resources for just this small group of students was astonishing.  Students spoke on the way home about how they are going to college and they have been inspired to be someone with a career.”
