Bostrom Hosts Regent University President

In an effort to promote college-going, Special Education Office Assistant Marie Culmone contacted colleges and universities around the country asking for pennants, banners, t-shirts, or any item that would represent their institution. What they didn’t expect was for the president of a university on the other side of the country to personally deliver the goods. Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA) President Dr. Carlos Campo came to Bostrom, November 26 as part of a Phoenix trip. Campo is an advocate for Hispanic and African American students pursuing higher education. He has initiated several programs and scholarship opportunities, and established the Center for Latino Leadership at Regent. He delivered the t-shirts and was able to spend some time with Bostrom students.

Meanwhile, Bostrom’s cafeteria has a line of banners and pennants from Harvard to Appalachian State along the ceiling, and another row is growing.    “I never expected this kind of response.   I am thrilled, and happy for Bostrom.  It’s been a lot of fun,” Culmone said.
