Alhambra Teachers Aim for National Board Certification

Posted by Community Relations Department on 10/3/2012

Alhambra teachers are going for National Board Certification in a big way.  Seventeen teachers are going through the process, and already six are up for full candidacy to earn what it is considered the teaching profession’s highest honor.  The certification is presented by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards to teachers who demonstrate, through a performance assessment, that they meet the high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do.  While the District has 24 National Board Certified Teachers, Alhambra does not currently have one.  The group is working with the Arizona K-12 Center and its project director,  former PUHSD and National Board Certified teacher Alaina Adams.
