I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting, emphasizing Creative Writing from Arizona State University. Past work experiences include a bookseller and then merchandising supervisor at Borders Books, Music, and Cafe and then a Communications Assistant in the Office of the Governor for Janet Napolitano.
While working and writing for Governor Napolitano I discovered my love of education and returned to ASU to earn a Master’s of Education in Secondary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, again from ASU. My first teaching job was in west Phoenix, after which I worked at Grand Canyon University, first as an academic counselor for online and evening campus students, and eventually as a student services adviser, assisting my students with both academic and financial services. While working at GCU I earned a second bachelor’s degree, this time in History, and took a graduate level course in Economics to further my knowledge.
